Exploring Plymouth's Blitz History
The Blitzsight project was a second year project which involved exploring and building a system that used data about a city. As a group we decided that this data source would be Plymouth's bomb book data which marked the known locations of bombs that fell on Plymouth during WWII. Using this data we opted to build an app that would show users where and when all the bombs fell on Plymouth during the blitz. The app itself was built in PhoneGap and within the group my primary role was to develop this as well as the other technical elements of the project. Once finished, the Blitzsight app was installed for a period of time at the Destruction to Re-Construction exhibition which was organised in partnership with The Box in Plymouth. The success of this project also inspired us as a group to work together in running our own Web Development agency during our placement year.
